Over the last few months, my colleagues at ZOE and I have been collaborating with BBC Radio 4 and various intrepid explorers and adventurers to look at how extreme diets can affect the gut microbiome.
My good friend the journalist Dan Saladino interviewed and followed a group of about 20 for Radio 4’s The Food Programme who ate only foraged food for three or more months. With the help of experienced foraging experts, these volunteers switched their regular diet to one of edible plants and small animals.
